Concept Design is where every project begins and is possibly the most important stage of the architectural process. It’s the stage where the high-level decisions are made and where ideas are explored, tested, and refined into a clear direction. We study the site carefully; its orientation, sun path, and environmental context to understand how best to shape your spaces. Through hand sketches, 3D modelling, and physical models, we develop design options that balance aesthetics and functionality.

At this stage, we recommend obtaining early cost feedback from a Quantity Surveyor or Builder to ensure your preferred design aligns with your budget and aspirations.

Once a concept is chosen, we refine it further through testing and finessing of the built form, materiality, and the spatial planning and quality of the interior spaces. We integrate input from consultants, such as engineers and landscape architects, and continue to work up the design using 3D CAD modelling to understand how natural light moves through the space and how materials interact. The use of rendered images allows our clients to visualise their project and make decisions with confidence.

We manage the preparation and coordination of all documentation required for planning approval including preparation of architectural drawings, sun and shadow studies, and consultant input.
Depending on the project, this may involve a Development Application (DA) to Council or a Complying Development Certificate (CDC) with a Private Certifier. We guide you through the process from the outset, ensuring clarity and efficiency at each step.

The Construction Documentation stage is where we translate the design into a comprehensive set of technical drawings and specifications that guide pricing and construction. These documents include detailed plans, elevations, sections, and schedules for fixtures, finishes, and fittings. Larger-scale details describe elements such as windows, doors, walls, and joinery, ensuring the design intent is carried through precisely. We also prepare the Construction Certificate documentation required for works to commence.

Construction is where the vision becomes reality. As a registered architect, we administer the contract between the client and the builder throughout the duration of the build. Regular site visits allow us to review progress, resolve details, and assess claims for payment. We work closely with the builder to resolve details on site to ensure the integrity and quality of the design is maintained. We manage communication and decision making so that our clients can enjoy the process and focus on the more enjoyable aspects of the project. Following completion, we remain involved during the 12-month defects period, ensuring any post-occupancy issues are addressed and your new home performs as intended.

The final layer of design completes the story of your space, whether it’s for an existing house or a new project we have completed with our clients. We assist in selecting furniture and objects that enhance the architecture and are suited to our clients needs and lifestyle. We use 3D modelling to test proportions, materials and placement of furniture and create a curated furniture schedule that captures every detail. We have relationships with trusted suppliers and will manage the quoting, ordering and delivery to ensure a seamless and considered result.
